    A Great, Safe Carseat, November 25, 2011
    By

We have had this carseat for a year now and are about to purchase a second one for our son. We put our daughter in it when she was almost 1 yo. I chose this because at the time I was driving a Honda Civic and it fit wonderfully (Rear facing and forward facing. We started her rear facing with the carseat reclined. Once she was 1 year and 20 lbs we turned her around.) Now we have a minivan but I still prefer this one to the larger/bulkier Marathon and Boulevard. A good friend has the later and now that her sons are older she is switching to a booster anyway. Here are the high points for me:

    1) Easy to install! Some carseats take a rocket scientist to install but this one is fairly simply. We use the Latch option. One trick that helped me when I was installing it in our Civic was to snap side that is closest to the center of the car first, with the carseat turned in toward the center of the car. Then I turned the carseat to face forward and snapped in the other side. Then stuck my knee in the seat and used my body weight to press it down while tightening both sides. I’m tall and if I can get it into a Civic while being 6 months pregnant I think almost anyone can do this. It just takes a couple of minutes. Our minivan is much easier to get it into, because it has the latches exposed. My Honda had the latches hidden down between the seat with a small button to indicate where the latch bar was so it was kind of a guessing game, but that was really the car’s fault, not the carseat.

    2) Safety, safety, safety! (Which perhaps I should have mentioned first) I think it’s pretty much accepted that Britax puts out great, quality products which have superior safety ratings. Like another reviewer said, check out their site for the rigorous safety testing they do.

    3) Comfortable and good looking. Even if my car was parked in the sun, the fabric on this would not be that hot. The buckles do get hot, but the fabric is very nice and gentle on kids’ bare legs/arms. (The crotch guard will keep the buckle from touching them.) Also I love the color which is gray but has some shimmer. Washes well and is durable. We’ve had it over a year and it still looks brand new with no staining or fading.

My bottom line is that this is a great carseat! My sister and close friends all have the Boulevard and I just don’t see the point, unless you are planning on keeping your kid in it until they are 15 years old. :)

The seat looks great, the pattern works well with all car interiors. Kids are easy to buckle in they look comfy and seem to enjoy the ride. We have several roundabout 50′s and they are great seats, the new roundabout 55 design is even better. We really like Britax seats. It is our opinion that they are made to be strong, comfortable, safe and easy to install. Check out their website to see how rigorous and serious they are about their crash testing(kudos). Buying from Amazon is always top notch as well. Two great company’s. You just can’t go wrong.

We have had the car seat for about 2 months now and I very happy with same. It is sturdy and very comfortable because of the cushioning (some of the other car seats we were looking at were very firm).

What we love most is the size of same. We have a smaller car (mazda 3) and it fits perfectly. Not too bulky and easy toget our son in and out. We are still able to have 2 other passengers in the back seat.

Great seat with 2 design flaws, March 14, 2011

So overall, this is a good product. It has extremely high safety rating (which was the most important part to me) and it definately aligns the seatbelt where it needs to be. It’s also super cute and my daughter says it’s comfortable. For that I give it a 5. However, there are 2 design flaws – first is that the arm rest is fixed so my child cannot buckle herself in as the arm rest blocks her ability to do so. Second is that the guide where the seat belt goes through (the shoulder guide) is a total pain in the you know what to put the seat belt through…and you cannot leave the seat belt in this guide: you have to take it out each time to retract the seatbelt and then after you reach over to lock your kids seatbelt (because they can’t do it themselves) you then have to reguide it through. Overall, I’m happy with the seat because it’s SAFE and cute (and my child loves the cup holders…) but I wish it was a little more “parent-user friendly”.

I purchased this seat for my 4 year old and she LOVES it. More importantly, it’s top rated for safety and use-ability. The only reason I gave 4 stars rather than 5 is because I read somewhere that part of why it rated so high was that it fits properly in most vehicles. I tried to put it in our Toyota Camry and it would only sit directly upright. The manual says the back of the seat should be SLIGHTLY reclined and not at a 90 degree angle. It was at a 90 degree angle. I then played musical car seats and put it in my Hyundai Santa Fe. It works perfectly.

My daughter is 4 years old and about 34 pounds. I bought her this seat and the belt goes right across her lap, and properly on her shoulder. The seat also holds the belt in place really well, so I don’t have to worry about it sliding around. She says it is really comfortable, it has tons of padding. She has only used it twice and can already buckle and unbuckle it by herself. The pattern is really cute, too.
